Ed Pickett was given permission to make the decisions about distribution issues. He discovered several members who were on the mailing list that didn't need to be there. Can Hodson reported she and her husband, Joel reported an address on Institute St. to Front Porch, but the Hodsons have received no response from them.

All attending board members agreed to serve for next year. Cleve Helmick will not be on the board next year, as he is moving.

The meeting adjourned at 7 pm to listen to Lisa Klein's talk about Neighborhood Watch.

Next meeting August 14, 6:30 pm at 18 Church St., home of Shirley Masters. There will be no July meeting

Highlights of Lisa Klein's presentation:

Lisa Klein is the head of Neighborhood Watch and is very familiar with Newtown. She discussed trespassing. No written notice is needed. It is enough to tell person to get off property. Trespassing papers must be handed to them. The police will stand by when the papers are handed, but can't do it themselves. A no trespassing or private property sign is also sufficient.

Drug activity signs:
1. Short contact--a car pulls up, honks horn and person is in house for 10 minutes or less.
2. Possession of muriatic acid, sudafed or Vicks inhalers. These are used to make meth amphetamine, "ice"
3. The person is jittery, may have bad teeth, facial scratches and sores on legs and arms.
4. Merchants should watch for shoplifting. Durg dealers give clients a shopping list of things they should steal.

Gangs:
There are 2 main gangs in Staunton: Crips--blue, Bloods--red.
Watch for BK graffiti, red or blue bandanas, bright red T shirts and a group wearing all the same color. Kids as young as 10 are involved in the gangs.

Lisa recommended that the community stay aware and document what they see and always call or email what has been observed.
