Committee Reports

Community Issues: Sara Hollberg-Sara Willoughby, Office on Youth, wants to give a presentation on gang activity. We will try for March 15 in a church or place where gang members may not come, as this has been a problem in the past. The announcement will be sent to members by emails. We hope to have this be a joint venture with NBG. First choice would be Emmanuel Church, then Grace Covenant. NNA to provide beverages and cookies.

Old Business

Shirley hasn't heard from VA Preservation representative, so their conference & how NNA would be involved is tabled till next month.

Community projects wre discussed: trash cans, planters, more mailboxes in Newtown, a Newtown sign. We would like to approach the city about improving lighting and sidewalks in Newtown--especially in view of the increased property taxes this year. It was suggested that Randy Teeter would do a great job of making trash receptacles. The sign idea was questioned--where would it be placed?

New Business

The problem of dog owners not cleaning up after their dogs ws discussed. It was suggested that in the next newsletter a small article could emphasize pooper scoopers in Landes Park. Also strongly suggesting to leave home with a bag to clean up!

Sandra presented each NNA Board member with a beautifully decorated heart-shaped art house cookie that she had made. She would like to have one of these cookies included in each welcome bag. All agreed this would be a fine idea.

The next meeting will Tuesday, March 13, 6:30 pm at the home of Barbara Martin, 211 Fayette St.
