The meeting was called to order at 6:33 p.m.

The minutes of the January meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Account balance is close to $2,300. February statement was $1,996.37, with recent deposit of $295 (from many renewals and new members from the block party).
There are approximately 115 member households.

Committee Reports:

Community Relations
Discussed progress on getting block grant going (no notes). Shirley does the ‘welcome wagon’ on behalf of NNA. She gives new members in the historic district a tea towel and a tote bag and home-baked cookies.

Real Estate / Commercial Property
Craig reported on latest court date for Paul Anderson and Bower properties. It was reported that Michael Organ bought 5 houses on the last block of St. Clair, which has long been a problem.
There was spirited discussion of the recent controversy over the Historic Preservation Commission ruling to not approve the Dorlini’s original design for their West Beverley Street storefront.

Old Business:

Recap of Winter Social:
Huge turnout – capacity crowd and wonderful food. Everyone enjoyed Katharine Brown’s talk.

Spring Cleanup:
April 1 from 9 to 12. (Rain date Sunday at 2 pm). Elisabeth and Tesi agreed to be coordinators.

Heavy trash pickup by the city is the week of April 24. Items put on the curb on Monday will be picked up that week.

Candidates Forum:
April 27 at 7 pm. Ed will contact Steve Paulus to see whether Grace Covenant can host and provide coffee (we do cookies). Joe and Madison will run the program. Email questions to Joe. Other jobs to do: contact TV and press; contact candidates.

HSF Brown Bag Lunch:
May program will feature NNA. Joe, Madison, Elisabeth, Shirley, Tesi, Ed, and Sara will plan to prepare ideas and attend.

New Business:

SDDA:
Sara reported that as a member of Staunton Downtown Development Association, she had received a survey. The Board discussed the questions and gave her guidance to fill it out on behalf of NNA. General feeling was dissatisfaction. Many were not aware of SDDA programs and felt there should be more interaction with the local customer base. It was suggested that NNA again offer to help develop better promotions and awareness between businesses and nearby potential customers.

Next Meeting – April 20 at 6:30 at Craig Peterson’s.

Meetings with Council Members – It was suggested that after the council elections NNA should invite council members to the neighborhood to establish a rapport with them. Suggestions included a cocktail party or a walk around.
